KB Kookmin Bank to Exceed 20 Million Customers, Upgrade Internet, Mobile Banking Experience

KB Kookmin Bank will soon have 20 million customers, and the bank is celebrating its growth by releasing new versions of its Internet and mobile banking applications.

KB Kookmin Bank was the first to introduce Internet banking in July 1999, which made their customers’ financial lives much more flexible. In 2003, KB Kookmin Bank followed up on that by being the first in the world to showcase its mobile banking service “Bank-ON,” based on a financial chip service, with the motto of “Bank in My Hand.” And the bank’s mobile app, KB Starbanking, which was released in 2010, got 10 million customers by April 2015, the first banking app to do so in Korea.

KB Kookmin Bank is conducting an event titled “KB Internet Banking’s 20 Million Customers, Thank You” from Dec. 9, 2015 to Jan. 1, 2016. Free gifts are going to be offered on Jan. 9 to 200 people who best guess the date that the company achieves 20 million customers and 2,000 people who answer quiz questions correctly. It is possible to participate in this event through the KB Kookmin Bank website, www.kbstar.com, or KB Starbanking event zone in the company’s mobile app.

In the meantime, KB Kookmin Bank is going to reform the KB Starbanking service to install a “faster, more convenient, and safer” online environment for their users. This renovation not only improves user convenience when they use those platforms, but also improves performance.

KB Starbanking will have improved screen transition speeds and optimized resolutions for each different handset. Additionally, security has been strengthened in the app. In summary, a faster and more secure environment for users will be established.

It is possible to check whether the application that a person is using is the real application or phishing application through an image at the bottom of the screen. One can also check the number of hours using the application and security status, since the level of security of the phone and recent access information can be checked through the main menu item.

Meanwhile, an event to celebrate the new service upgrade, called “Let Me Introduce New Internet Banking and KB Starbanking,” is being held from Dec. 3, 2015 to Jan. 15, 2016. For customers who log in to the KB site after upgrading KB Starbanking or answering the quiz questions correctly, Megabox mobile coupons will be offered by drawing lots.
