Duncan Harrison (R) listens to David Swan speak about local hiring trends at the Robert Walters press event on Feb. 4, 2016.

Yesterday, Robert Walters released the 17th edition of its Global Salary Survey, giving a comprehensive picture of recruitment market trends and global salaries.

Futures are bright for specialist talent, with the company predicting 2016 trends to show continued demand for the high tech sector, particularly in the digital marketing field.

Duncan Harrison, country manager of Korea at Robert Walters, remarked, “Increased hiring by international firms is likely to continue in 2016. We are witnessing a significant increase in the number of international companies entering the Korean market of late which is resulting in additional hiring opportunities for bilingual professionals with specific expertise. We have seen significant salary increases for job seekers and annual rises of up to 10% for professionals remaining with their firm.”

Robert Walters said that 2015 showed that the U.K., Japan, Taiwan, and Vietnam were hiring hot spots, while China mostly replaced existing international workers. Demand in the mobile app and web business has an increased need for skilled employees.

Bilingual language ability is still in demand as well. David Swan, managing director of Japan and Korea at Robert Walters, said, “As major global organizations entered Korea in recent years, hiring by foreign firms grew significantly in 2015, while subdued economic performance in the country restricted the recruitment activities of Korean companies. The structure of the Korean jobs market continues to change significantly as international companies have placed new demands on local talent having bilingual capability.”

So technically-minded digital marketers should dust off their respective language certifications and begin the hunt. They won't be disappointed this year.
