A Hyosung official introduces its bulletproof panel using aramid fiber called Alkex to consumers at the Milipol Paris 2015 held in Paris, France, from Nov. 17 to 20.

Hyosung announced on Nov. 23 that it unveiled the world’s largest bulletproof panel using aramid fiber called Alkex at the Milipol Paris 2015, the international defense exhibition held in Paris, France, from Nov. 17 to 20.

A bulletproof panel is produced by spraying resin on glass fibers, aramid fibers and carbon fibers, and is used in armored vehicles or refugee shelters for natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes.

Co-developed with Axia Materials, a small thermoplastic composite producer, Hyosung’s bulletproof panel is three meters wide and 12 meters long, the largest in the world for a single specification.

Since the product has a three times wider width, compared to the existing products, and no joints, it has a higher ballistic performance than its competitors.

In particular, it is expected to be widely used together with insulators, sound absorbing materials and flame retarding materials. Hyosung actively sought to attract consumers in Europe and North America, which are advanced markets in the bulletproof industry, at the exhibition.
