Mando will accelerate its global market penetration by setting up an auto parts manufacturing complex in Mexico.

Mando announced on Aug. 16 that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new auto parts manufacturing plant in Arteaga City, Coahuila Province, located in northeastern Mexico. Having a total area of 110,000 m2, the facility is scheduled to be put into operation in January 2017. The products that are manufactured there are slated to be expanded from master boosters for automobile brake systems, shock absorbers, and the like to steering, braking, and suspension devices.

“We will further increase our presence on the American continent by means of this Mexican plant that follows those already built in Alabama, Georgia, and Brazil,” Mando CEO and president Sung Il-mo said at the ceremony, adding, “The establishment of the new auto parts manufacturing facility here in Mexico will be a very important step for our efforts to become a leading global player.”

The company is planning to invest US$130 million in the Mexican plant during the next 11 years, so that its auto parts supply networks can cover global automakers such as Volkswagen, Honda, and Mazda as well as Kia Motors Mexico, GM Mexico, and Ford U.S.
