Korea Post signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with France’s postal service GeoPost to release a new product targeting the global e-commerce market. The e-commerce product will be unveiled as early as the first half of next year.
Korea Post announced that its Postal Service Director General Kim Byung-soo signed the MOU with GeoPost President Paul-Marie Chavanne at the 14th Kahala Post CEO Conference held in Hong Kong on July 29 to jointly develop postal services between the two countries, and agreed to introduce eParcel, an online delivery solution that can ship items of up to 30 kg between Korea and Europe, by the first half of next year.
The new product will deliver the same service quality with the current EMS, while lowering delivery costs by more than 30 percent. Accordingly, domestic small and mid-size firms, which carry out e-commerce businesses for the European market, will be able to cut down on distribution costs.
In the conference, Korea Post also agreed with major countries in Kahala to expand the EMS Delivery Guarantee Service to 25 countries from the current nine in order to improve the EMS service quality.
