Samsung C&T Vice President Ahmad Abdelrazaq Receives Engineering Award

Ahmad Abdelrazaq, vice president and the head of the Building Sales Division at Samsung C&T Corporation, was selected as the recipient of the Ernest E. Howard Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

The Ernest E. Howard Award has a long history and tradition dating back to 1954. It is given annually to honor those members of the ASCE who have contributed to the advancement of structural engineering.

The official statement from the ASCE reads, “We have recognized his contribution to the advancement of high-rise construction through studies such as 'Validating the Dynamics of the Burj Khalifa.'”

Abdelrazaq has served as the chair of the Tall Buildings Committee at the ASCE for six years, and has been actively engaged in the advancement of high-rise building technology. 

Also, he has been involved in the design, engineering, and construction of various high-rise projects worldwide, including the 828 m Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. He serves as project director of complex high-rise building projects, including the Tanjong Pagar Mixed Development Project to build the tallest building in Singapore, and Star Residences, the tallest residential building in Malaysia.

A Samsung C&T representative said, “The award is meaningful as it also confirms Samsung C&T's capacity and expertise in high-rise building construction.”
