LG Electronics has acquired an international certificate for the personal information management system for the first time in the global electronics industry.
The British Standards Institute (BSI) awarded the BS10012 certificate to LG Electronics’ data centers located in Korea, Europe, and North America.
The BS10012 certificate, an internationally-renowned certificate for personal information management, is provided to organizations only when they meet detailed requirements of management system and operation, including the ability to comply with the personal information security management system and regulations, the level of consciousness related to personal information protection, and constant self-inspection.
LG Electronics strengthened its management and evaluation system for collecting and destroying personal information, strengthened its personal protection system and equipment based on the advanced management system, raised awareness about personal information protection through education and promotion at work and outside, and established a global personal information management system. With these initiatives the company proved that it can systematically and safely manage its customer information.
LG Electronics is planning to continually manage customer information in Korea, Europe, and the U.S. in the future, and expand the range of the BS10012 certification to all of its centers across Asia, including China, by 2016.
