Google Korea Selected as Most Popular Foreign Company for 7 Consecutive Years

According to a survey involving 1,424 college students and job seekers published by Job website Saramin on March 2, 43.0 percent of respondents picked Google Korea as the most favored foreign company. It has enjoyed a seven-year reign as the most popular foreign enterprise in the nation since 2008. 

Yuhan Kimberly was the second-most-favored company, which was selected by 16.2 percent of respondents. 3M Korea's ranking went up by two notches to third place this year with a 15.8 percent, followed by BMW Korea (8.2 percent), Apple Korea (7.5 percent), P&G Korea (7.1 percent), Rhodia Korea (5.6 percent), GE Korea (5.4 percent), Microsoft Korea (4.5 percent), and Homeplus (4.4 percent).

A total of 38.6 percent of respondents cited a generous employee benefits package as an advantage of working at foreign companies. Western business culture (22.4 percent), salaries and compensation in line with people's capabilities (11.9 percent), opportunities to work abroad (11.9 percent), and the awareness of companies and brand value (10.7 percent) followed.

Language skills were selected by 59.6 percent of respondents as necessary abilities to join a foreign company. Job experiences (25.1 percent), education background (5.2 percent), voluntary activities (3.9 percent), and experiences in living in a foreign country (3.5 percent) were also cited.
