LG Electronics announced on January 7 that its first curved display smartphone will be available in the US market in the first half of this year. The G Flex will be launched in partnership with AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile.
After its introduction in Korea in November of last year, the Korean firm released the handset in Hong Kong and Singapore in December.
Park Jong-seok, head of LG’s mobile communications division, said, “The introduction of the G Flex in the US will serve as an opportunity to accelerate the launch of the product in other countries in the world. Ultimately, we hope that we will become a global leader in curved smartphones.”
LG’s new flagship smartphone features futuristic hardware, including the world’s largest curved display for smartphones, a curved battery, a self-healing back cover, and a flexible frame. The phone is curved lengthwise, top to bottom, so that it can fit more snugly against the head.
