KT announced on Oct. 24 that it began taking pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ on the same day, and online pre-orders ended 30 minutes later, with 50,000 customers having applied.
The mobile carrier took pre-orders again on Oct. 25 through Olleh Shop.
LG U+, which is introducing Apple's latest iPhones to the country for the first time, said that more than 20,000 people applied only 20 minutes after it started taking pre-orders for the new iPhones.
Taking SK Telecom into account as well, at least 100,000 people are believed to have applied for pre-orders on Oct. 24.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics released the Galaxy Note Edge four days earlier than Apple's latest iPhones to counter the popularity of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+.
Therefore, much attention is being paid to whether or not the Galaxy Note Edge, one of the flagship models together with the Galaxy Note 4, will curb the new iPhones' popularity.
The launch price of the iPhone 6 series is expected to be 50,000 won (US$47) cheaper than the Galaxy Note 4.
